We had a great weekend celebrating this guy's second birthday! Yes...I know what you're thinking. We did indeed celebrate our dog's birthday. Our friends even played along and hosted a little party in his honour featuring this tasty puppy-cake, a birthday boy pin, and a birthday banner. Puppy Cake Recipe 1 egg 3 tbsp peanut butter 1/2 finely chopped apple 1/2 tsp baking powder Mix, bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Frost with peanut butter. Jake and I adopted Eddie just over a year ago from Marley's Hope. They told us he was found living under a step with his brothers and sisters and, as the runt of the litter, this poor little guy was quite sick. It didn't take long for Marley's Hope to find everyone a home...I mean who wouldn't want to cuddle up with this little cutie? Just look at those ears!! After the folks at Marley's Hope nursed Eddie back to health, he was adopted out to a family. Unfortunately (or fortunately for us) the family decided that having a puppy and a new baby was a little more then they could handle, and returned Eddie to Marley's Hope. Eddie was about nine months old when we welcomed him into our home, but it didn't take long for him to get comfortable. I'd imagine it often takes rescue animals a little while to settle in. Thankfully, Eddie was already house trained and knew his name, but as a first time dog owner I really didn't know what I was doing. Jake and I took him to an obedience class at Keep It Simple Dog Training, where he was naturally the star of the group! Over the past year, Eddie has gone from a crazy wild pup, to a regular (slightly crazy) wild pup. He has a lot of energy, will only listen when food is involved and is always on his best behaviour when we bring him to the shop. Hopefully the terrible twos isn't a real thing for dogs...
