We wanted ribs. We missed Canada Day's giant rib fest in Halifax so we found one in Bridgewater this weekend. We left Eddie at home where it was cool and hit the road. The ribs were delicious and the lines were short - good news for us, but not so sure about the ribbers. We voted for our pick for best ribs and sauce (congrats to Silver Bullet BBQ on both counts) and got back on the road again. First, we stopped in Lunenburg, a neighbouring town, and walked downtown visiting a few of our favourite shops. Voted Cutest Shop in the World, Dots & Loops is #shopgoals. They have a great mix of quirky gifts and novelty items that are all merchandised so well. Great use of IKEA closet organizers as shelves - clean and organized and the product is so well presented. Next, it was on to Mahone Bay and more stops at favourite spots. We discovered a new ice cream shop called Get The Scoop which was truly unbelievable. Just heavy cream and goodness sitting snug in a fresh waffle cone. M chose coffee flavour which was rich and flavourful, and J had the peanut butter and pretzel flavour and he's still raving about it. Finally, we dipped our toes in the water at a nearby provincial park and headed home. Eddie was very happy to see us and we're currently snuggling on the patio. If you're in the area, the south shore of Nova Scotia has so much beautiful ocean vistas, great food and seafood, and lots of beaches for relaxing on.
